James Bowlin

James Bowlin joined the University of Central Oklahoma track & field and cross country programs in August 2021, serving as the assistant coach for both teams.

He works with the cross country team as a whole, and will work with distance and middle distance runners in the track program. 

Bowlin, a native of Parkville, Missouri, comes to Central from Wayne State (Neb.), where he spent the past five years as an assistant for both cross country and track & field programs. 

Before he began his coaching career Bowlin was a student-athlete at Emporia State. He was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll on more than one occasion. Bowlin also was a national qualifier in junior college at Johnson County CC, qualifying in the 1,000 meters, 4 x 800 relay and distance medley relay, earning All-American honors in 2012 with a fourth place finish in the 4 x 800 meter relay. He also won several conference titles while there.

Bowlin holds a bachelor's degree from Emporia State in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship and he has his master's degree from Wayne State in Organization Management: Sports and Recreation.
