Victoria Gonzales joined the University of Central Oklahoma in July 2023 as the assistant coach for the cross country and track & field programs.

Gonzales came to UCO after spending the 2022-23 school year with Barton Community College in Kansas. She also coached at Texas A&M Corpus Christi before that in addition to coaching at the high school level.

In her first season as an assistant with Central Oklahoma, Gonzales worked with the cross country team and helped guide the team to the MIAA Championships and the NCAA Central Region Championships. During both Indoor and Outdoor seasons, Gonzales led UCO to several accomplishments, including seven new school records.

During Gonzales' year at Barton, she rebuilt a cross country program. Gonzales coached the men’s team to a Top 10 finish at the 2022 NJCAAA Region VI Cross Country Championships for the first time in six years. The men’s team then went on to compete at the national meet where and had an individual place in the Top 30 and the team had an overall finish of 21st place. In track & field season, Gonzales coached one individual champion, two Top 3 finishes and two Top 10 finishes. The women's team won the Region VI Indoor Championships before both men’s & women’s teams claimed the Region VI Outdoor Championships.

Prior to Barton, Gonzales spent four years as the assistant distance coach at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. During that time each of the teams achieved all-time program high finishes. In 2019, the men were conference runners-up and the women’s cross country team placed third overall. The women’s team claimed the 2021 Southland Conference Championship, with the Men placing third overall, combining to become the best distance program in the Southland Conference. This was followed by the men’s track & field team becoming the Southland Conference Indoor runner up, which was an all-time best finish for the program. Since joining the Islanders staff, A&M-CC had a conference championship, four individual conference champions, 23 Top 3 finishers, 40 Top 10 Finishers, and multiple school records.

Gonzales also coached at the high school level at Satsuma High School in Alabama. While there, both the Girl’s and Boy’s Cross-Country teams qualified for the AAHS Cross Country state championships, which was the first time in school history for the Girls’ team to have done so. Gonzales also had several runners qualify for the AAHS Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field state meet.

Gonzales works to d
evelop the distance program at UCO and assist head coach Gus Schmader with developing the Track & Field program as a whole.
