Biography

Junior standout ready to stake her claim as one of the top pitchers in NCAA Division II . . . Dominating presence in the circle and a fierce competitor who doesn’t get rattled . . . Right-handed power-pitcher set to once again see duty as both a starter and closer . . . Will throw major innings this spring and is poised to contend for a variety of post-season honors . . . Played on Oklahoma’s national championship team as a freshman before transferring to UCO last year and had an immediate impact.

2017:  Put together a sensational sophomore season, finishing 23-4 with four saves and a 1.66 earned run average while appearing in 36 games . . . Was a first-team All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association selection in addition to earning second-team All-Central Region recognition by the Conference Commissioner’s Association and National Fastpitch Coaches Association . . . Struck out 220 batters in 185.2 innings and had 23 complete games in 28 starts with nine shutouts, which ranked 17th in Division II . . . Finished second in the league and 13th nationally in strikeouts . . . Also tied for second in the conference in saves while finishing third in wins, and fifth in both ERA and innings pitched . . . Winning percentage (.852) ranks third on UCO’s single-season list and she was also in the school’s top 10 for wins (fifth), strikeouts (sixth), saves (seventh), shutouts (seventh) and innings pitched (eighth) . . . Won 16 straight games from March 26 to May 12 . . . Opponents hit a paltry .196 against her . . . Earned MIAA and NFCA Division II Pitcher of the Week honors after an overwhelming three-game stretch when Chestnut went 3-0 with a pair of one-hit shutouts and a perfect game while fanning 20 batters in 20 innings . . . Struck out eight in that 8-0 perfect-game win over Central Missouri . . . Threw four one-hitters and allowed two hits with nine strikeouts in run-rule rout of Pittsburg State in the Central Regional . . . Fanned 10-plus batters six times with a high of 13 coming in eight-inning 2-1 win over St. Mary’s . . . Gave up just four runs and 26 hits while striking out 89 during one phenomenal 12-game, 67-inning span late in the season.

OU:  Appeared in 23 games with four starts for the powerful Sooners as a true freshman in 2016, finishing 9-1 with a 3.23 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 73.2 innings . . . Tossed two complete-game shutouts and combined on another as OU went 57-8 in capturing the national title.

High School:  Four-year star at Mustang High School, earning All-District, All-Region and All-State honors as a senior while also being named state Player of the Year by the Oklahoman . . . Went 24-3 with a 0.92 ERA and 242 strikeouts in 164 innings her final season in leading the Broncos to the state championship . . . Threw three perfect games and also batted .405.

Personal:  Nursing major . . . Mom (Shannon) played basketball and dad (Craig) football at Northwestern Oklahoma . . . Lists “Remember the Titans” as her favorite sports movie . . . Birthdate is Feb. 28, 1997.
