In her first year as a graduate assistant coach with the Central Oklahoma softball program is Bailey Thompson, who finished a stellar two-year playing career with the Bronchos last season.

Thompson played two years at Division I North Texas before transferring to UCO and she started all 112 games in center field during the 2018 and '19 seasons with the Bronchos.

Bailey was an honorable mention All-MIAA performer in 2018 after hitting .353 with 10 doubles, four triples, 20 runs batted in and 11 stolen bases.

Thompson enjoyed a sensational senior season last spring in helping lead UCO to a 48-8 record, the MIAA regular-season and tournament titles and a berth in the Division II Central Super Regional. She batted a team-high .413 with 10 doubles, seven triples, 27 RBI and 14 steals in earning second-team All-MIAA honors.

Bailey finished second on Central's single-season list for triples and 10th for hits (76). She also ended up fourth in career average (.382) and tied for fourth in career triples (11).


Thompson was a multi-sport standout at Deer Creek High School in Edmond, garnering All-State recognition in softball while also playing on two state championship basketball teams and placing in the state track meet.
