Kamau Dumas joined the Central Oklahoma coaching staff in February 2024 and will coach cornerbacks in his first season this fall.

Dumas comes to UCO from Wagner College (New York), where he coached defensive backs for the Division I FCS program. He helped guide the team to its best record since 2017, with his team leading the Northeastern Conference in interceptions (10). The Wagner squad had two interceptions returned for touchdowns and also ranked second in the league in run defense. Dumas coached one All-American and All-NEC safety.

Dumas also has coaching experience at the Division II level, coaching cornerbacks at Gannon University in Pennsylvania during the 2022 season. There he helped the team win a co-PSAC West title in an 8-3 season. Dumas worked with an All-American at Gannon too.

Prior to that, Dumas coached at McPherson College (NAIA) in Kansas, and at Morristown High School in New Jersey.

Dumas played for Monmouth College in his home state of New Jersey, where he was an All-Big South Conference selection. Dumas still holds the record at Monmouth for the longest punt return in a single game, an 89-yard return for a touchdown in 2017. He was team captain for the 9-3 team that made the FCS playoffs and appeared in the Top 25 for the first time in program history.

He earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Monmouth. Dumas received an invite to training camp with the New York Giants, and also the Baltimore Brigade of the Arena Football League.

Dumas is engaged (Josephine) and has one son (Ezra). Â
