Jesse Ornelas enters his first season at the University of Central Oklahoma where he will be responsible for coaching running backs along with handling the recruiting coordinator duties for the Bronchos.

Jesse came to Edmond after spending the 2019 season at Independence Community College (Kan.). The Pirates finished 8-2 while winning the KJCCC Championship. Before returning to Indy in 2019, Ornelas spent the 2018 Season at Iowa Central Community College coaching linebackers along with having the recruiting coordinator title there as well. Ornelas helped the Tritons go from a 1-10 record in 2017 to an 8-4 record in 2018, along with a Graphic Edge Bowl victory against Monroe College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Ornelas also spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons at Independence. In 2017 the Pirates finished with a 9-2 record, first in the KJCCC, and a Midwest Bowl Victory over Northeastern Oklahoma. In 2016 the Pirates finished 5-4, with victories over Butler, Hutchinson and Coffeyville, beating all three teams in the same season for the first time in over 50 years.

Ornelas is a Graduate of Eastern Illinois University where he earned a degree in psychology. He attended Oak Forest High School in Oak Forest, Ill. Ornelas also coached High School football at several Chicagoland High Schools including: CICS - Longwood, Oak Forest High School, Bremen High School and Back of the Yards College Prep.
