UCO revived wrestling for the 1972-73 season and the Bronchos wrestled their first match in Hamilton Field House on Dec. 8, 1972, drubbing North Texas, 53-2.
Since then, UCO has compiled an impressive 248-63-3 home record (.794 winning percentage) and will enter the 2026-27 season with a school-record 32-match home winning streak. Current head coach Todd Steidley is 47-2 (.959) at home.
UCO hosted the NAIA National Wrestling Championships in Hamilton Field House in 1981 and 1984, winning the championship both times.
The Bronchos have hosted an NCAA Division II regional tournament eight times (1993, ‘98, ‘04, ‘12, ‘21, ‘23 and '26), winning the team title every time but in 2014.
Hamilton Field House was re-named from Broncho Field House on May 1, 1993 in honor of longtime UCO coach and athletic director Dale Hamilton, who helped design the building in the 1960s.
A new wrestling room that ranks as one of the finest in the country at any level was added to HFH in 2019. Four wrestling mats cover the room, which also includes a cardio area, locker room, three coaches offices, a student-athlete lounge and reception area.
Hamilton also serves as the home facility for UCO volleyball and basketball. Numerous other events, including the university's graduation ceremonies, are also held in the building.
