Biography

Senior standout who ranks among the elite wrestlers in NCAA Division II . . . Two-time All-American looking to end his career with an elusive national championship at 165 pounds after runner-up finish last season and is UCO’s unquestioned leader . . . Was a dominating force all last year and more of the same is expected in 2014-15 from this tough, physical veteran who has improved every year throughout his career . . . Has no peer when in control on the mat and will score plenty of points for the Bronchos with his ability to rack up bonus wins . . . Enters his final campaign with 88 career wins, including 21 falls and 18 major decisions.
 
2013-14:  Put together a spectacular junior season, finishing 38-3 with 20 bonus-point wins . . . Had 13 major decisions, which ranks third on UCO’s single-season list, along with six falls and a technical fall . . . Opened the season 19-0, winning titles in the Central Missouri and Fort Hays State opens and the Newman Invitational . . . Had three falls and two major decisions in 5-0 sweep at FHSU . . . First loss was 5-3 setback to Nebraska-Kearney’s Brock Smith in a dual and fell to Smith again in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament finals 6-5 . . . Went 4-0 with two major decisions and a 7-4 semifinal victory over Smith in winning rugged Central Super Regional title and was ranked No. 2 entering the national tournament . . . Opened national meet with 11-2 major decision, followed with 15-0 technical fall and had 9-1 major decision over Smith in the semifinals before losing gold medal match 4-2 to Notre Dame’s top-ranked Eric Burgey . . . Was a first-team selection to the Division II All-Academic Team.
 
2012-13:  Missed the first three weeks to injury, but ended up with a 20-7 record that included 13 bonus wins en route to fourth-place national finish . . . Had a technical fall, fall and 6-3 win in claiming the Jet Invitational title as part of a 5-0 start . . . Was runner-up in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament and took third in the Super Regional Two Tournament to earn a second straight trip to nationals . . . Lost in semifinals at regionals before coming back with two straight wins for third . . . Opened national meet with 8-4 win and then lost 6-3 in the quarterfinals . . . Rebounded with 15-0, 9-0 and 2-1 wins to make the consolation finals before losing there to settle for fourth finish . . . Was named to the Division II All-Academic Team.
 
2011-12:  Started all year at 165 and finished 27-16 with 11 bonus-point wins, including seven falls . . . Placed in three regular season tournaments, topped by third-place effort in amateur bracket of the Loper Open . . . Also took fourth at the Oklahoma City Open and sixth at the Missouri Valley Open . . . Earned national tournament berth with fourth-place Super Regional Two finish . . . Scored 3-2 upset in first round of national meet before being eliminated with 4-2 and 3-0 losses . . . Was selected to the Division II All-Academic Team.
 
2010-11:  Started at 157 in season-opening dual and then won his first three matches at the Central Missouri Open before suffering season-ending injury, earning a hardship ruling to retain a year of eligibility.
 
2009-10:  Wrestled in four open tournaments at 149 while redshirting, going 9-5 with five bonus wins . . . Placed third at the Missouri Valley Open, winning four straight matches after a second-round loss.
 
High School:  Enjoyed sensational career at Central High School in Andover, Kan., finishing with a 159-13 record . . . State runner-up as a sophomore and then won back-to-back state titles, going 41-0 with 33 falls as a senior in earning Class 5A Wrestler of the Year honors . . . Also a two-time USA National All-American.
 
Personal:  Finance/marketing major . . . Enjoys hunting, fishing and golf among his hobbies . . . Names the Green Bay Packers as his favorite sports team . . . Lists “Cinderella Man” as his top sports movie . . . Birthdate is March 16, 1991.
