Biography

Gritty, hard-nosed veteran and former All-American looking to again be among the nation's elite at 174 . . . Took over starting role at that weight early in his sophomore season en route to earning All-America honors and was a national qualifier there last year . . . Is set to once again be the main man at 174 and should be one of the prime national contenders in 2012-13 . . . Hard-working senior with great defensive skills who never lets up on that mat and is poised to end his career in style.

2011-12:  Battled injury problems off-and-on throughout the season and finished 18-12 with four bonus-point wins . . . Placed sixth in the elite bracket of the Loper Open and was third at the Missouri Valley Open . . . Qualified for nationals with runner-up showing the Super Regional Two Tournament to help UCO claim that team title . . . Had a 26-second fall and 5-2 win in making the finals before dropping 3-1 sudden-victory decision to defending national champion Michael Lybarger of Findlay . . . Lost two straight close matches at nationals.


2010-11:  Started the season as the back-up at 165 and went 9-6 there in the first three tournaments before moving up to 174 and taking over a starter's role . . . Went 23-8 at 174 and finished 32-15 overall with eight falls and three major decisions . . . Qualified for nationals with third-place finish at the Super Regional Two Tournament, losing a 3-1 overtime decision in the semifinals before coming back with two consolation wins . . . Scored third-period fall in the consolation semifinals and earned bronze medal with 2-1 sudden-victory triumph . . . Won first-round match at nationals, then fell in quarterfinals to eventual runner-up Luke Rynish of Wisconsin-Parkside . . . Rebounded with two straight consolation wins before losing two straight in finishing sixth . . . Placed in two regular-season tournaments, capturing the Newman Invitational title with a major decision, fall and 6-1 finals victory and taking fifth at the Missouri Valley Open . . . Had 23 matches decided by two points or less, going 14-9 in those.

2009-10:  Missed the season to injury.

2008-09:  Started all year at 157 and finished with a 16-21 record that included seven falls . . . Finished sixth in the regional tournament, opening with a 12-1 major decision before losing three straight close decisions.

2007-08:  Participated in one open tournament while redshirting.

High School:  Three-time state placer at Tahlequah High School, finishing fourth as a sophomore, first as a junior and third as a senior . . . All-State pick his final season and also an All-District performer in football and golf for the Tigers.

Personal:  Business major looking to become a coach . . . Enjoys playing golf and the drums in his spare time . . . Names the Tennessee Titans as his top professional team . . . Lists "Remember the Titans" as his favorite sports movie . . . Birthdate is May 27, 1988.
