Biography

Senior standout and two-time All-American determined to end his sensational career with a national title . . . Has placed fifth in the national tournament twice and will be a prime contender at 133 pounds this season . . .  Feisty competitor and fabulous all-around talent who excels in all areas, an aggressive grappler who overwhelms opponents with his attacking style . . . Has won 30-plus matches every season and already ranks 23rd on UCO’s career wins list with a 98-27 record that includes 52 bonus-point victories.
 
2012-13:  Was a dominating force at 133 all season, going 36-5 with 24 bonus wins that included 10 major decisions, eight technical falls -- tied for third on UCO’s single-season list -- and six falls . . . Was runner-up in the Oklahoma City Open and fourth at the UNK Loper Open before beginning a 29-match winning streak that included titles at the Fort Hays State Open, Jet Invitational, MIAA Tournament and Super Regional Two Tournament . . . Claimed 10 straight bonus-point wins during that long streak . . . Took MIAA crown with 6-4 sudden victory win over eventual national champion Daniel DeShazer of Nebraska-Kearney . . . Won the regional with three bonus wins and 7-3 finals triumph . . . Advanced to national semifinals with two straight wins before losing two in a row, then rolled to 16-1 technical fall in fifth-place match.
 
2011-12:  Went 31-12 with 12 bonus-point wins at 141 . . . Had third-place finishes in the Oklahoma City, Loper and Fort Hays State opens and took fourth at the Newman Invitational . . . Qualified for national meet with runner-up effort at the Super Regional Two Tournament . . . Opened the regional with two major decisions and a 3-1 semifinal victory before dropping 3-1 sudden-victory decision in the finals . . . Went 5-2 at nationals to earn All-America honors, avenging quarterfinal loss to Mary’s Trevor Johnson with tough 3-2 win in fifth-place match.
 
2010-11:  Competed in three open tournaments during redshirt year, going 9-5.
 
2009-10:  Took over a starting role at 125 from the outset and tied for the team lead in wins (31) in finishing 31-10 with a team-high 16 bonus-point victories . . . Placed in all six tournaments he participated in . . . Split two matches during the season with eventual national champion Seth Wright of New Mexico Highlands .  . . Won the Missouri Valley Open and was runner-up at the Fort Hays State Open . . . Also took third at the Oklahoma and Central Missouri opens and fifth at the Nebraska-Omaha Open . . . Finished fifth at the Super Regional Two Tournament.
 
High School:  Three-sport star at Duncan High School and the Class 5A Male Athlete of the Year as a senior  . . . Had a 136-9 record on the mat with three state titles, earning All-State and Wrestling USA All-America honors his final season . . . Also a two-time pole vault state champion and an All-District pick in football.
 
Personal:  Physical education major . . . Enjoys fishing and hunting as hobbies . . . Brother (Cody) was a UCO All-American in 2010 . . . Birthdate is Nov. 10, 1990.
