Sophomore defender looking to retain a starting spot in the secondary this fall . . . Came out of redshirt to play the final seven games last year and started the last four at strong safety, showcasing great instincts and giving a glimpse of what he’s capable of . . . Should really benefit from last year’s experience and this athletic youngster will be counted on heavily in 2009.

2008:  Finished with 16 tackles while playing in the final seven games, adding a fumble recovery and pass broken up . . . Made his college debut on the road at Tarleton State and had a season-high five tackles, including four solo stops . . . Made three tackles and broke up a pass in rout of Southeastern Oklahoma and fumble recovery came in win against East Central.

High School:  Quarterback-safety star at Western Heights High School, picking up District Defensive Player of the Year and All-State honors on defense as a senior while also earning Oklahoman All-Big City acclaim on offense . . . Had 60 tackles with four interceptions along nearly 2,300 yards total offense in leading the Jets to their first playoff appearance in 10 years.

Personal:  A criminal justice major . . . Brother (Brandon) played basketball at Southern Nazarene . . . Birthdate is Nov. 15, 1989.
