Sophomore 197-pounder set to be the main back-up this season after starting most of last year . . . Was scheduled to redshirt in 2008-09, but was pressed into starting duty after an early-season injury knocked Jarrett Edison out of action . . . Picked up valuable experience in his baptism under fire and will benefit from that in the long run . . . Edison is back this winter and James figures to see action in a reserve role, though he’s also a redshirt candidate . . . Hard-working youngster who will only continue to improve.

2008-09:   Finished 12-21 with nine bonus-point wins, scoring four falls and five major decisions . . . Scored a big 13-5 major decision to clinch a dual win over Wisconsin-Stevens Points at the Lone Star Duals.

High School:   Three-time state placer at Del City High School, finishing with a 102-18 career record . . . Placed third in the state tournament his last two years and earned All-State honors as a senior . . . Also lettered in football and track for the Eagles.

Personal:  An education major looking to become a wrestling coach . . . Enjoys playing the guitar in his spare time . . . Names the Pittsburgh Steelers as his favorite professional team . . . Father (Ronnie) was a four-time All-American and three-time national champion for the Bronchos in the 1980s and UCO head coach David James is his uncle . . . Birthdate is July 16, 1989.
