Bronchos Finish Sixth At Southern Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. – Central Oklahoma finished sixth at Missouri Southern's annual Southern Stampede Saturday morning at Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

Host Missouri Southern won the team event with 43 points, having the individual winner and three in the top 10. Pittsburg State, Tulsa, Southwest Baptist, and Central Missouri rounded out the top five teams in front of the Bronchos.

Lily Melton finished the 5k in 18:37.17 for a 26th place individual finish. After an 18:36 time two weeks ago that ranked ninth best in school history, the sophomore from Broken Arrow posted the 12th-fastest time on Saturday.

Lily Horvath also recorded a Top 20 5k time in UCO history with an 18:57.92 that earned her a 33rd place individual finish. With Melton's two Top 20s this season, Horvath's time on Saturday is the 19th-best 5k in school history.

Chloe Ezell crossed the finish line just after Horvath, finishing in 19:03 for a 37th place finish. Regan Jones completed the 5k in 19:34.90 and Hadlee Mann an even 20:00 to round out UCO's counting scores.

Riley Shea was just outside of that group, finishing in 20:04. Ariane Williams was just behind that at 20:07. Autumn Hickock finished in 20:16, Julia Trost in 20:31, McKenna Huston finished in 21:37, and Abagail Bloyed finished in 21:45.

Central Oklahoma is off for two more weeks until heading to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the annual Chile Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas.
