Bradley Thao Named MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week

Central Oklahoma Freshman Scored 10 Points In College Debut

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma freshman Bradley Thao was named MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week presented by FieldTurf, the league announced Monday.

Thao, a freshman from Bixby, had a high-scoring collegiate debut with the kicker hitting a 32-yard field goal and all seven of his PATs Thursday in Fort Worth, Texas as the Bronchos opened the season with a 59-7 win over future DII and Lone Star Conference member, Texas Wesleyan. Thao also kicked off for UCO and averaged 61.6 yards per kick on seven kickoffs with just one touchback.

After converting the first seven PATs of his career, Thao converted a 32-yard field goal to give UCO a 52-7 lead at Texas Wesleyan.

Thao's seven PAT conversions were the fourth most in Division II in Week Zero. He was also one of just four kickers in the country to make seven PATs and kick a field goal on opening weekend.

Central Oklahoma is off this week and travels to Conway, Arkansas in Week 2 for a matchup with Division I Central Arkansas. The Bronchos are playing a DI squad for the first time since 2011. UCO will open MIAA play in Week 3 at Washburn and then host Northwest Missouri in Week 4 for the home opener at Chad Richison Stadium.
