Steidley Named Super Regional IV Coach of the Year

10th-year UCO Coach Earns Top Regional Honor for the Fifth Time

MANHEIM, Pa. – Todd Steidley enjoyed a stellar two-year career on the mat for Central Oklahoma and captured seven state championships as a highly-successful high coach before returning to his alma mater in 2016, where he's made spectacular contributions to the Bronchos' rich wrestling history.

Steidley added another notch to his legacy last weekend by being named NCAA Division II Super Regional IV Coach of the Year for the fifth time in the last eight years. That acknowledgement came a week after he was selected as MIAA Coach of the Year, also for the fifth time.

UCO finished 16-1 in duals this season, with the lone loss coming against Division I Little Rock in early November. The Bronchos claimed the NWCA Division II National Duals title, won a sixth straight MIAA title and captured the Super Regional IV crown for the sixth year in a row on Sunday.

No. 2-ranked UCO will send eight qualifiers to the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships March 13-14 in search of its 18th national title, including the third under Steidley.

"I'm the head coach, but all the credit should go to our wrestlers and my assistant coaches," Steidley said. "We've got a great group of guys in the room who work hard, do things the right way and take immense pride in making this program successful.

"Scott (Chenoweth) has been with me for nine years now and he's an unbelievable coach whose knowledge of the sport is unmatched. Anthony (DesVigne) and Dylan (Brown) have both been great as our graduate assistants who do so many things that go unnoticed."

Steidley has led the Bronchos to an uncanny 130-14 dual record in his 10 years at the helm, including a 75-3 mark the last six seasons while winning national titles in 2022-23 and '23-24. He's coached 35 regional champions, 39 All-Americans and eight national champions.

UCO has won 31 straight MIAA duals along with a school-record 33 consecutive home matches under Steidley's guidance.

Steidley was a two-time NAIA national finalist for the Bronchos in the late 1980s, winning one title. He went on to coach seven state championship teams in stops at Bristow and Ponca City before returning to Edmond, promptly leading UCO to an 18-0 dual season in 2016-17.

The winning – and the championships – haven't stopped since.
