Bronchos Win Third Straight In Arkansas

Central Oklahoma Beat Arkansas Tech 6-1 Friday To Wrap Up Busy Week With Win

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Central Oklahoma made it three wins in three days Friday when the Bronchos beat Arkansas Tech 6-1 in a non-conference contest.
 
UCO jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead winning all three doubles matches for the early point.
 
Karyna Yurchenko and Hui Soo won 6-0 at No. 3 doubles and No. 18 Mei Hasegawa and Pete Komada won by the same score at No. 1 doubles to clinch the point. Ayaka Koga and Anika Ouwejan added a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles to take the sweep.
 
In singles play, 32nd-ranked Hasegawa won quickly, earning a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 to give the Bronchos a 2-0 advantage. Ouwejan made it 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles and Yurchenko clinched the win for the Bronchos with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
 
Arkansas Tech got on the board with a win at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-4 over Koga.
 
Komada, ranked 54th in the latest ITA Singles Top 75, pushed the lead to 5-1 with a three-set win in the No. 2 spot in the lineup. She won 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Soo picked up the final win of the day for the Bronchos with another three-set victory. She won 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 6 singles to make it 6-1, Central.
 
Central Oklahoma plays its final non-conference match of the season on Monday against North Texas in Denton. The Bronchos will open MIAA play March 24 against Newman in Wichita, Kansas. UCO returns home March 27 against Emporia State.
