Todd Steidley Selected Division II National Coach of the Year

Central Oklahoma Head Wrestling Coach Earns Top Honor Ahead Of Nationals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – There's still work to be done this weekend, but Central Oklahoma's Todd Steidley picked up another big honor Thursday when the 10th-year head coach was named Division II Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Steidley was tabbed MIAA Coach of the Year two weeks ago and added Super Regional IV Coach of the Year accolades last week before nabbing the national award. Steidley was recognized during the coaches meeting on the eve of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.

The No. 2-ranked Bronchos qualified eight individuals for the national tournament that gets underway at 10 a.m. Friday at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

"It's always humbling to get recognized by your peers and I'm grateful," Steidley said. "It's a team honor. My assistant coaches do an amazing job and we have a awesome group of guys who have paid the price all year to get us to this point.
We've had a great year, but we're not done yet.  I'm excited about what we can do this weekend."

Steidley led UCO to a 16-1 dual record this season, winning 15 straight after suffering its lone loss to Division I Little Rock on Nov. 2. The Bronchos are 130-14 under Steidley and have won 31 straight MIAA duals along with a school-record 33 consecutive home matches.

The Bronchos claimed the NWCA Division II National Duals title, won a sixth straight MIAA title and captured the Super Regional IV crown for the sixth year in a row.

Steidley has been named MIAA and Super Regional IV coach of the year five times each and the national award is his second.

A two-time All-American and member of the UCO Athletics Hall of Fame, Steidley has coached 35 regional champions, 39 All-Americans and eight national champions at UCO. He led the Bronchos to national titles in 2023 and 2024.
