EDMOND – Perennial wrestling power Central Oklahoma has announced its 2026-27 schedule and the 17-time national champion Bronchos are set to host six home duals at Hamilton Field House.
"It's a good schedule that will definitely test us," said head coach Todd Steidley, who has a glittering 130-14 dual record entering his 11th year at the helm. "We wrestle a lot of tough teams and that's what we need to help us get better. We're going to have some new guys in the lineup this year, but I'm excited to see what this team can do."
UCO has six open tournaments on the schedule, starting with the season-opening Viking Open in Poteau, Okla. Nov. 7. The Bronchos make their dual and home debut the next day, hosting New Mexico Highlands for a 2 p.m. contest.
Another home dual against Augustana follows the next week, Nov. 15, and UCO begins defense of its MIAA crown Dec. 3 at Newman in Wichita, Kansas. The Bronchos have two more open tournaments after that before finishing the first semester schedule at the rugged Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana Dec. 19-20.
UCO returns to action Jan. 3 at the Jet Open before traveling to Cedar Falls, Iowa Jan. 8-9 for the NWCA Division II National Duals. The Bronchos resume their dual schedule Jan. 15 at home against league rival Ouachita Baptist, with the other home matches coming against Colorado State-Pueblo (Jan. 24), Fort Hays State (Feb. 5) and Nebraska-Kearney (Feb. 12).
Central travels back to Indianapolis for the Super Regional IV Tournament, with 30 individuals - the top three placers at each of the 10 weights – advancing to the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships March 12-13 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
UCO went 16-1 in duals last year, winning the NWCA Division II National Duals title while also capturing both the MIAA and Super Regional IV championships for the sixth straight year. The Bronchos finished fourth in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, just seven points behind champion UNK.
