UCO Runs Away From Northwest Missouri

Central Oklahoma Earns 61-44 Win In Edmond Over Northwest Missouri

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma cruised to a 61-44 victory over Northwest Missouri Thursday night in an MIAA matchup at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos improved to 6-16 on the season with the win, and 5-8 in league play.

"We played well tonight and we played for all four quarters," UCO head women's basketball coach Emma Andrews said. "Our defense really stepped up in the fourth quarter. They were still in the game, but the girls did a great job of putting it away."

Northwest Missouri (10-12, 3-9 MIAA) held a 13-11 lead after the first quarter, but that was its last lead of the game. The Bronchos opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run and never looked back.

UCO hit 49.0 percent of its shots on Thursday, and even though the Bronchos were just 2-for-11 from behind the 3-point line, the defense stepped up big in the win.

Northwest shot 24.6 percent from the floor, making just 14 of 57 total shots. The visiting Bearcats were 2-for-17 from behind the 3-point line.

LaKysia Johnson led UCO with 17 points to go with four rebounds and three steals. Jordyn Turner posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. And Talia Pogi also scored in double figures, putting up 14 points. Turner and Pogi each hit one 3-pointer.

Alexis Lewis scored seven off the bench, and Peyton Walker, Korie Allensworth, Parker Simonsen, and Karly Wadsworth all scored two points.
