EDMOND (Sept. 5) – Perennial wrestling powerhouse Central Oklahoma added 12 newcomers to the roster for 2023-24 when the fall semester started, gaining five transfers and seven high school standouts.
Transfers joining the defending NCAA Division II national champion Bronchos are Aidan Boline from Lindenwood, Dylan Brown from Northeastern Oklahoma AM, Zane Coleman from Arizona State, Bryce Dauphin from Wyoming and Trenton Lusk from Carl Albert State.
UCO's eight high schoolers are Will Heger and Dailey Jennings from El Reno, Eli Kirk from Guthrie, Riley Kuder from Broken Arrow, Jaxon Koeltzow and Tucker Waitman from Tuttle and Kaleb Owens from Perry.
"We were able to bring in a lot of really good wrestlers and they will help make us better," head coach Todd Steidley said. "We got a few experienced transfer guys along with some of the best high school kids in the state and we're looking forward to having them in the room."
Boline redshirted as a freshman at Lindenwood last season and will have four years eligibility remaining. A probable 157-pounder, he was a two-time state placer at Washburn (Kan.) Rural High School, winning the title as a senior.
Brown was a two-time junior college All-American at 149 pounds for NEO. A product of Cleveland High School, he finished fourth as a freshman in 2022 before coming in as national runner-up in 2023 to cap a 36-7 sophomore season.
Coleman redshirted in 2019-20 at Arizona State, then saw limited action at 174 pounds the next two seasons for the Sun Devils. A junior with two years eligibility remaining, Coleman was a four-time state champion at Choctaw High School and finished with a 151-9 prep record.
Dauphin went 17-3 in open tournaments while redshirting his first year at Wyoming and was 11-5 last year, seeing action at 165 and 174. A sophomore with three years eligibility left, Dauphin was a three-time state finalist and two-time champion at Tuttle High School.
Lusk was a part-time starter at 165 and 174 pounds during two seasons at Carl Albert. He was an All-State pick as a senior at Hinton High School.
Kirk was a four-time state placer for Guthrie, finishing with a 118-21 career record. He went 68-3 the last two seasons in capturing back-to-back state titles.
Heger made three appearances in the state finals at El Reno, winning two titles, in compiling a 134-19 career record. Jennings was a three-time state qualifier for the Indians, capturing a state championship as a senior to cap a 40-5 season.
Owen was a four-time state qualifier at small-school power Perry, winning a pair of titles in putting together a 138-38 career record.
Waitman made the finals three times at Tuttle, claiming two crowns and went 91-20 for his career. Koeltzow had a 65-15 career mark with the Tigers, finishing as state runner-up his senior season.
