UCO Season Ends In MIAA Quarterfinals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma got in an early hole and never recovered before suffering an 82-60 defeat to Central Missouri in the MIAA Basketball Championship quarterfinals Thursday night at Municipal Auditorium.
 
The 2022-23 UCO season came to an end with a final record of 11-17.
 
Central Oklahoma came out strong and held a couple of leads in the first part of the game Thursday night. The Bronchos led 4-0, 7-2, and then 9-8, but a crushing cold spell hit and UCO found itself in a battle it couldn't win.
 
Central Missouri went on a 22-0 run that spanned from 2:16 in the first quarter to 6:06 in the second quarter – six minutes and 20 seconds.
 
UCO trailed 45-17 at halftime. Central Missouri earned its biggest lead of the game, 31 points, with a 61-30 lead midway through the third quarter.
 
The Bronchos cut the lead to as much as 17 points in the fourth quarter, but never recovered from the early blow.
 
Aliyah Llanusa led the Bronchos with 19 points. The junior guard was 4-for-10 from the field and 10-for-11 from the free-throw line. She made one 3-pointer. Llanusa also had three rebounds, two assists and one steal.
 
Alayzha Knapp also scored in double figures. She posted 11 points on 3 of 9 shooting and 5 of 6 free-throws. Knapp also had two boards, one steal and one blocked shot.
 
Karly Wadsworth scored nine points, Brooke Rayner added eight, and Aspen Williston scored six points. Williston had four boards and four blocks. Rayner had four boards and three assists.
 
Megan McClendon scored three points and Tayler Factor and Kassie Boorer both scored two.
 
Central Oklahoma shot 26.9 percent as a team, hitting 18 of 67 total shots. The Bronchos made 20.8 percent of their 3-point attempts (5-for-24), and 82.6 percent of their free-throw attempts (19-for-23).
