Bronchos Stumble In OT Again

Central Oklahoma Narrowly Misses In Non-Conference Game At Cameron, Falling 63-60 In Overtime

LAWTON, Okla. – Central Oklahoma played overtime for the second time in three games to start the season and Friday night's non-conference game at Cameron had a similar ending to the first one last week.

UCO fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss. The Bronchos held a 58-57 lead with 1:23 to play in the extra frame. Alena Wilson made that layup to put the Bronchos ahead. Aliyah Llanusa tied the game, 60-60, with 30 seconds left, and then UCO needed another bucket from Wilson. Natalie Stice drove into the lane and drew the defenders before passing it backside to a wide open Wilson, but her layup missed. Cameron added one free-throw and UCO still had a shot a tying the game, but Reagan Fox's 3-pointer at the buzzer missed and Cameron escaped with the win.
 
Fox also missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to end regulation on a shot that could have won the game for the Bronchos.
 
LaKysia Johnson led UCO with 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting. The junior guard hit one 3-pointer, a buzzer-beater to end the first quarter. Llanusa also had double figures, scoring 12 points before she fouled out in the final seconds of overtime.
 
Stice finished with nine points and eight rebounds. Wilson had nine points and six boards. Fox finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
 
Central Oklahoma shot 36.7 percent from the floor on Friday. The Bronchos were 6-for-27 from behind the 3-point line for a 22.2 percent mark. UCO went 10-for-12 from the free-throw line.
 
Cameron was led by Katie King, who scored a game-high 24 points and hit a 3-pointer with 5.9 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
 
Central Oklahoma is back on the court Saturday. The Bronchos play at Southern Nazarene at 1 p.m. in Bethany.
