Morris Claims MIAA Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 6) – Central Oklahoma's Studd Morris has been named Mid-America Athletics Association Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Morris overwhelmed the 125-pound field at the Drury Open in Springfield, Mo. last Saturday, going 5-0 with five bonus-point wins in winning his second tournament title of the season.

The junior from Yukon, Okla. opened the tournament with a first-period fall, then reeled off four straight major decisions. He outscored those four opponents a combined 55-17, capped by a 12-4 rout in the finals.

Morris leads the Bronchos with a 14-1 record and made his debut in the national rankings last week, coming in at No. 7.

UCO, 2-0 in duals, begins defense of its MIAA title Friday when it travels to Wichita, Kan. to take on Newman.
