UCO's Morris Makes Italian World Team

EDMOND (Jan. 26) – Central Oklahoma wrestler Studd Morris achieved a major milestone last weekend by making the Italian U23 World Team.

A sophomore 125-pounder for the Bronchos, Morris dominated the field in capturing the 57-kilogram (125.6 pounds) freestyle title at the Absolute Italian Wrestling Championships in Ostia, Italy Jan. 22-23.

Morris, who was born in Italy, will participate in the U23 World Wrestling Championships Oct. 17-23 in Pontevedra, Spain. That tournament is the Amateur Wrestling World Championships for athletes under 23 and is organized by United World Wrestling.

A graduate of Yukon High School, Morris is in his third year at UCO. He has a 35-13 career record, including a 10-4 mark this season.
