First-Round Pairings Announced For Wrestling

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 5) -- First-round pairings have been announced for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships that will be held March 12-13 in St. Louis, Mo.

Central Oklahoma qualified seven individuals for the two-day, double-elimination tournament in winning the Super Regional IV Tournament title Sunday at Hamilton Field House. It's the most qualifiers for the Bronchos since 2013.

Five of UCO's seven qualifiers drew first-round opponents and two earned byes. See the brackets here.

Paxton Rosen earned the No. 3 seed at 125 pounds and will take on Ashland's Christian Wellman in Friday morning's opener, while unseeded Gabe Johnson will take on No. 2 Kyle Rathman of Minnesota State-Mankato at 149.

Unseeded Wyatt Jordan drew No. 6 Andrew Sams of Indianapolis at 174, top-seeded Heath Gray will face Southwest Minnesota's Caden Steffen at 184 and No. 3 seed Dalton Abney will go against Lander's Darius Parker at 197.

Tanner Cole (133) and Ty Lucas (157), both seeded fifth in the tournament, received byes to move them into Friday night's quarterfinals.
