EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma football team is hosting Southern Nazarene Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wantland Stadium in the first of two Broncho exhibitions this spring.

Following the cancellation of Central's 2020 fall season, the NCAA permitted schools to play a limited schedule in the spring. The Bronchos will host SNU this Saturday before hosting Oklahoma Baptist April 10.

"We're just grateful for the opportunity to play," UCO head football coach Nick Bobeck said. "We're thankful to everyone that played a role in getting us back on the field. To everyone who did their part. We hope that we can use this spring to get better and to help us get back to game speed. It's been a long time since these kids played a football game so we plan on easing back into it and getting a better idea of where we're at."

Admission is free for the game Saturday, though Central is hosting a food drive in conjunction with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and encourages all who come to bring a non-perishable item for donation.

Saturday will mark the first football game for Central since November 16, 2019. It'll have been 497 days between games for the Bronchos. UCO returns a couple dozen from the 2019 squad that last appeared on the field, including, on offense, Keats Calhoon, Johnny Bizzell IV, Daunte McGee, and Seth Carmack, and on the defensive side of the ball, Daniel Baughman, Marlo Hughes Jr., Devon Bajek and Joseph Roque.

Southern Nazarene has played three games this spring and is 0-3. The Crimson Storm lost 33-14 at UT-Permian Basin, 35-28 at home against East Central, and 21-20 at home against Missouri Southern.
