Bronchos Romp Past NEO

KEARNEY, Neb. (Jan. 23) – Kalin Winkler and Wyatt Jordan each scored opening-minute falls as Central Oklahoma plastered junior college powerhouse Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 37-6 Saturday afternoon in the final match of the Midwest Duals.

Winkler needed a mere 11 seconds to secure his pin at 197 pounds, while Jordan ended his 174-pound bout at the 59-second mark. The No. 3-ranked Bronchos added four other bonus-point wins in the exhibition match to polish off a perfect day, outscoring three opponents a combined 121-21

"It was a pretty good day for us, but there's still a lot of things we need to improve on," head coach Todd Steidley said. "We were pretty sloppy in some matches in not finishing off our shots and we have to clean that up. I thought our guys competed hard and we're making positive strides."

Thaddeus Long also had a fall for UCO at 133, while 125 Paxton Rosen had a technical fall and 165 Anthony DesVigne and 184 Heath Gray major decisions. The Bronchos also got wins from 149 Brik Filippo and 157 Ty Lucas.

Winkler tossed Seth Seago to his back on the edge of the mat in the opening seconds of their mismatch to score his lightning-fast fall and Jordan grabbed a quick 6-0 lead before getting the pin in improving to 6-0 with six bonus wins. The senior has yet to give up a point this season.

Long joined the pin parade with his 3:52 fall after building an 11-4 lead. Rosen needed just 1:55 to rack up two takedowns and four near-falls in ending his match early.

DesVigne had four takedowns and a near-fall in his rout and Gray piled up seven takedowns in recording his sixth bonus win in six outings this year.

Central doesn't return to action until hosting league rival Fort Hays State on Friday, Feb. 5.
