Bronchos Roll Over Central Missouri

KEARNEY, Neb. (Jan. 23) – Paxton Rosen, Dayton Garrett and Dalton Abney all had first-period falls as No. 3-ranked Central Oklahoma demolished hapless Central Missouri 52-3 Saturday morning in the first match of the Midwest Duals.

The Bronchos also scored a pair of technical falls and received four forfeits in going over the 40-point mark for a school-record fourth straight time in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association mismatch. UCO, which has outscored its first four opponents a combined 186-8, takes on Western Colorado next.

Rosen raced to a quick 8-2 lead before ending his 125-pound bout at the 2:26 mark, while Garrett's headlock on the edge of the mat resulted in a 2:41 pin in his first match of the season at 165. Abney wasted little time at 197, scoring two takedown and a near-fall before getting the fall just 1:36 into the match.

Central got back-to-back technical falls from 174 Wyatt Jordan and 184 Heath Gray, both of which ended in the first period. Jordan needed just 2:15 to rack up a takedown and four near-falls in a 18-0 shutout, while the top-ranked Gray had two takedowns and three near-falls in a 16-1 romp that required 2:21.

Thaddeus Long (133), Nate Keim (141), Gabe Johnson (149) and Braden Morgan (285) all earned forfeits.

Second-rated Ty Lucas suffered the lone loss for the Bronchos, dropping a 3-0 decision at 157.
