Gray Earns Conference Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 4) -- Heath Gray continued Central Oklahoma's domination of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Assocation's Wrestler of the Week honor Tuesday when the 184-pounder became the sixth straight Broncho to win the award.

Gray went 2-0 with a big fall last weekend as sixth-ranked UCO swept a pair of road conference matches to take control of the league race. The top-ranked junior earned a 7-5 decision in Central's 28-15 victory over No. 22 Fort Hays State last Friday night and then pinned fourth-rated Anthony Mancini in the first period to spark a come-from-behind 24-17 win over No. 3 Nebraska-Kearney Saturday afternoon.

It's the second time for Gray to win the award this season.

Gray, a junior from Chandler, is 25-1 on the season with 20 bonus-point wins. He's riding a 24-match winning streak.

The Bronchos are 11-1 on the season and 3-0 in MIAA action. UCO doesn't wrestle again until going to No. 2 McKendree Feb. 12 and then ends the dual season by hosting league foe Central Missouri on Feb. 16.
