Central Oklahoma Falls In ITA Consolation Semifinals

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team dropped its second match in as many days at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's inaugural Indoor National Championship at Oak Tree Saturday, falling 4-2 to Indianapolis.

The Bronchos are now 3-2 on the season following the loss. UCO will play familiar foe, Washburn, in Sunday's seventh-place match.

Central Oklahoma fell behind after missing out on the doubles point and then couldn't recover in singles play.

Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Isabella Dunlap did score a marquee victory in doubles play. The duo topped the No. 3-rated doubles team in the country, 6-3, at the No. 1 spot in the lineup before UIndy took wins at No. 2 and No. 3.

Central got a pair of wins in singles play to keep hope alive.

Lotte Lesscher Y Post won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles and Nikki Boyar won by the same score at No. 5 singles to put the Bronchos on the scoreboard. But wins at 2, 3, & 6 for UIndy were too much.

Central will face Washburn, a fellow Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association member, Sunday at 8 a.m. at Oak Tree in the seventh-place match.
