Eason, Haile, Lead Central Charge

EDMOND – A brace from Kelsie Eason and Asha Haile was more than enough for the University of Central Oklahoma soccer team Friday night as the 14th-ranked Bronchos hounded the Hillcats of Rogers State 4-1 at Tom Thompson Field.

Eason put home two goals in the first six minutes of the game and Haile, who assisted on both of those goals, put home her two scores in the first five minutes of the second half.

UCO is now 5-0-2 on the season. Rogers State is 3-3-1.

"We had a solid game tonight," UCO head soccer coach Mike Cook said. "We played really well in a few different areas. We're continuing to grow and that was good to see. And I'm proud of Kelsie and Asha for the way they played tonight. They deserve a lot of credit."

UCO kicked off to start the game Friday night and it only took 112 seconds for Eason to put the Bronchos on the scoreboard. Haile took the ball up the field on the left side of the box and crossed into her charging teammate, who knocked in the score.

Moments later, a virtual replay.

On a breakaway, Haile darted up the field on the left side of the box, crossed into Eason, and boom, it was 2-0 Central Oklahoma.

Though UCO didn't score again in the first half, the Bronchos still outshot Rogers State 15-2.

As the second half opened, Rogers State kicked off, but as soon as Central could take possession, it made another charge.

This time it was Haley Post moving quickly down the left side of the box and she crossed it into Haile, who punched home the score to make it 3-0, UCO.

Moments later, two minutes to the tick of the clock, Eason fed a wide open Haile, who scored her second goal of the game.

Rogers State got an easy goal in the 73rd minute on a breakaway to get on the scoreboard, but Central again controlled possession and took 11 more shots as the game went on, cruising to its fifth victory of the season and remaining unbeaten on the season.

UCO outshot RSU 28-4 on the night. Kaitlyn Asher made one save on the night to the two shots she faced in 69 minutes of action. Bailey Ledbetter played the final 21 minutes of the game but didn't need to make any saves.

Central Oklahoma wrapped up non-conference play with a win Friday night. The Bronchos will welcome Northeastern State to Tom Thompson Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the 2019 MIAA opener.
