UCO Drops Road Contest In Kansas

EMPORIA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team dropped a road MIAA contest Friday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Emporia State.
 
Central Oklahoma is now 8-3-2 on the season and is an even 3-3-0 in league play.
 
Central Oklahoma and Emporia State took 12 shots each Friday. And both teams put six shots on goal. But the difference, a 37th minute unassisted goal by Mackenzie Dimarco, left Central behind.
 
Kaitlyn Asher played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bronchos. The junior goalkeeper made five saves.
 
Sophie Hunter led Central Oklahoma with three shots taken. Kelsie Eason took two, while seven other Bronchos got one shot off.
 
Asha Haile got her lone shot on goal off in just the eighth minute. UCO didn't get another shot on target until Taryn Kedzior put a free kick on goal in the 32nd minute. Hunter put one more on goal in the in the 40th minute and Brooke Moore put one on goal in the final minute of the first half. But ESU goalkeeper Jillian Patton saved all five shots.
 
Central had two chances on goal in the second half. Eden Jones put a shot on goal in the 60th minute and Eason took hers in the 68th. But again, no go for the Bronchos.
 
UCO drops to 3-3 in league play with the loss. The Bronchos will have a chance to get back on top of .500 Sunday when Central Oklahoma plays at Washburn.
