Marley Anderson 3-pointer with three seconds left lifts No. 10 Bronchos over Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, Mo. – Marley Anderson hit a 3-pointer with three seconds on the clock to give 10th-ranked Central Oklahoma a 61-60 win over Missouri Southern State in MIAA action Saturday afternoon.

Anderson had not attempted a three on the day, and was just 1-of-3 from the floor. But when Blake Blessington inbounded the ball to Anderson, she pivoted around to face the goal from the left wing and there wasn't a defender within five feet.

Anderson took the shot, sinking the game-winning basket. The Bronchos are now 19-1 on the season, 10-1 in conference play, and have won eight in a row.

"I'm so happy for Marley," UCO head coach Guy Hardaker said. "She deserves this. She's played in more than 100 games for us, she's a great leader on this team, and for her to hit a 3-pointer to win the game, that's just pretty cool."

Missouri Southern tried a long inbound following Anderson's three, but the pass was tipped near halfcourt in fell into the hands of fellow UCO senior, Olivia Mason.

Anderson finished with seven points.

Mason led the Bronchos with 15 points. She moved up to No. 16 on the school's career scoring list with 944 points and passed her older sister and UCO graduate assistant Julia Mason, who scored 940 points for the Bronchos from 2013-16.

Saturday's game was one of the worst shooting performances for the Bronchos. UCO was 5-of-20 from behind the arc before Anderson sank the game-winner. The Bronchos shot 5-of-19 in the first quarter and scored just 10 points.

The Bronchos did battle back in the second quarter, when Olivia Mason scored 11 of the team's 22 points. UCO led at halftime 32-30.
