Holland Fills Coaching Staff

EDMOND, Okla. (Jan. 30) ? New Central Oklahoma head football coach Tracy Holland has announced the addition of three full-time assistants to his staff, bringing in two Oklahoma high school coaches and promoting a current graduate assistant.

Named as UCO's new offensive coordinator is Jay Wilkinson, head coach of Metro Christian Academy in Tulsa the past two years, while Broken Arrow High School assistant Brandon Hall will take over as linebacker coach and graduate assistant Micah Nall will assume duties as offensive line coach.

Holland, who was named UCO's 11th head coach on Dec. 27, retained defensive coordinator Steve Patterson and defensive line coach Calvin Miller from the previous staff.

Wilkinson comes to the Bronchos after a highly-successful prep career that saw him serve as assistant coach at two of the state's most successful programs before taking over at Metro Christian.

A graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma, he started his coaching career at Shawnee High School and was an assistant for three years there before going to Jenks High School in 2001. Wilkinson coached running backs his first season in and then directed the quarterbacks the next three years, serving as offensive coordinator the last two seasons.

Jenks led Class 6A in scoring offense in the two years that Wilkinson was offensive coordinator and the Trojans won two state championships during his four-year tenure. He went to Tulsa Union High School in 2005 as tight ends coach, helping the Redskins to a 13-1 record and the Class 6A state title.

Wilkinson took over as head coach at Metro Christian Academy in 2006 and was 16-6 in two years there, with his 2007 team going 9-2 and averaging a state-best 325 yards a game passing.

"Jay knows how to build a championship-caliber offense, as he's shown throughout his career," Holland said. "He is highly respected for his expertise and knowledge within the Oklahoma coaching community, but it is how he gets players to excel and overachieve that sets him apart. He is a winner through and through."

Hall has spent most of his coaching career at the University of Oklahoma, starting with a stint as a student assistant coach from 1998-00. He then spent three seasons as a graduate assistant with the Sooners coaching linebackers, with OU going 37-4 in that span.

Hall joined the OU staff as a full-time defensive assistant for quality control in 2003 and served in that capacity for three years, helping the Sooners play in two national championship games. He went to Northern Iowa as linebacker coach for the 2006 season, with the Panthers going 7-4, and spent the 2007 season as linebacker coach at Broken Arrow.

"Brandon is an exceptional coach who was a part of an OU program that played in a number of national championship games," Holland said. "He brings an energy and passion to our staff that will be exciting and players will love. He definitely fits the ideals of UCO football and I'm proud to have him on our staff."

A former offensive lineman at Lone Star Conference rival Southwestern Oklahoma, Nall has coached as a graduate assistant for the Bronchos the past two years. He spent three years as offensive line coach at Ponca City High School following his graduation from SWOSU, then served as offensive coordinator at Miami High School for two years before coming to UCO in 2006.

"Micah has proven himself indispensable since my arrival on campus," Holland said. "He has done a great job of recruiting and is a hard worker who knows how to get results on the field."
