EDMOND (July 24) --
Award-winning sportscaster David Garrett will take over as football play-by-play announcer for the University of Central Oklahoma in 2007, with the Bronchos to have all 10 games broadcast on Oklahoma City's Fox SportsRadio 1340 this season.
Garrett is a 32-year veteran of radio and television broadcasting, including a three-year stint doing play-by-play for the Dallas Cowboys and a two-year run as voice of the New Orleans Saints.
He is also host and producer of "The Home Stretch" afternoon call-in sports show from 4-7 p.m. on Fox SportsRadio (1340 AM), one of Oklahoma's premiere all-sports radio stations. UCO's games will also be broadcast through the radio station's website at www.sportsradio1340.com.
"I've never been "the voice" of a college football team before, so this is a really, really cool day for me," said Garrett, A Henryetta native and Oklahoma State graduate. "Football has always been my first professional passion and this feels like a perfect combination of best-fits for my family, my job and hopefully for the fans and program at UCO."

Garrett's broadcast roots run deep in Oklahoma. He was sports-talk anchor and sports director of KTOK in Oklahoma City from 1987-92, winning two "Best Sportscast" awards, and also hosted talk shows at KQLL in Tulsa, KREF in Norman, KRLD in Dallas and WQUE in New Orleans.
Garrett took over as voice of the Dallas Cowboys in 1995, where he won the 1996 KATIE Award from the Dallas Press Club for calling the play-by-play of Super Bow XXX. David later called New Orleans Saints games for two years and he also did various play-by-play assignments at Oklahoma State.
Garrett was radio voice of the Oral Roberts' baseball and basketball teams from 1999-04 and did Oklahoma Redhawks baseball in 2003.
The 47-year-old Garrett is married (Rajeana) and they have two daughters (Allison and Alicia).
