EDMOND (June 28) -- Former Central Oklahoma All-American A.J. Haglund has been named to the Arena Football League All-Rookie team, it was announced by the league.
Haglund, who ended his career at UCO in 2004, is in his first year with the San Jose Sabercats after spending the previous two seasons with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of arenafootball2.
The El Reno native set AFL single-season records for extra points made and attempted this season by connecting on 128 of 138 attempts. He added 10 field goals in scoring a league-best 158 kicking points, the third-highest total in AFL history.
Haglund was a four-year starter for the Bronchos and ended his career as the school's all-time leader in extra points (139) and field goals (40) while ranking second in points scored (259). He was a second-team All-American as a senior in 2003 after making a school-record 15 field goals in 18 attempts.
The Sabercats enter the AFL playoffs with a 13-3 record and are the No. 1 seed in the American Conference.
