LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 3) – Former Central Oklahoma softball star Nathalie Timmermans earned one final award Tuesday when she was named the 2012 Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year for NCAA Division II by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Timmermans, a native of The Netherlands who completed her eligibility last spring, helped lead the Bronchos to their best-ever season in 2012.  UCO reeled off 35 consecutive wins during one stretch and ended up with a 46-9 record en route to capturing the South Central Region championship and finishing third in the national tournament.

Timmermans led Division II in total home runs (23) and runs scored per game (1.36) while ranking second in homers per game (0.42), fourth in slugging percentage (.909), seventh in RBI per game (1.24), ninth in on-base percentage (.538) and 12th in batting average (.463).  She set single-season school records for homers, runs (75), hits (81) and walks (30) while throwing out nine of 24 base-stealers.

A first-team All-America selection by both the NFCA and Daktronics, Inc., Timmermans followed her senior season by playing on the Dutch National Team in the World Cup of Softball this summer in Oklahoma City.
