Central Oklahoma Leads Regional Championship After First Round

Jordan Wilson Leads 108-Player Field, Four Bronchos In Top Six

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Central Oklahoma got off to a great start at the NCAA Division Central/Midwest Regional Championship Thursday, with the Bronchos finishing the first day in first place.

UCO shot a 4-under par 280 on Thursday, earning a 10-shot lead over second place Central Missouri. Arkansas Tech and Missouri S&T are third (292) and Concordia St. Paul and Grand Valley State are fifth (294).

Jordan Wilson led Central Oklahoma and all 108 golfers in the field. The senior shot a 3-under 68, going 5-under on the last six holes with an eagle on 15 to get to first place after the first round. Wilson bogeyed No. 2 & 9 and was still 2-over going into the Par 3 13th. He sank back-to-back birdies, then two pars before the eagle. A birdie on 18 finished off the round.

Bennett Baldwin is only two shots back in third place. He is 1-under after a 70 on Thursday. The senior fought off two bogeys and a double with two birdies on the front nine. He birdied No. 10, then sank six straight pars before going birdie-birdie to finish.

Karsten Paciotti and Nick Canales are tied for sixth individually to give UCO all four counting scores within three shots of the lead. Both shot even par 71s. Paciotti had two birdies and a bogey on the front nine and eight pars and one bogey on the back nine.

Canales bogeyed his first hole, but after three pars, he went to No. 5 and holed out a 110-yard shot to eagle and get back to even par. He birdied the next hole to get to 2-under and made the turn with a 33. On the back nine, Canales needed a birdie on 17 to get back to even par and finish the day that way.

Baylor Bostick is also in the UCO lineup and shot a 6-over 77 on Thursday. He sank one birdie and four pars on the front nine, then one more birdie and five pars on the back nine. But six bogeys and a double hampered his day.

Central Oklahoma tees off at 7:30 a.m. Friday for the second round of play. Paciotti, Bostick, Canales, Baldwin, and Wilson will begin play every 12 minutes off the No. 1 tee box at St. Joseph Country Club. The Regional Championship will be decided after Saturday's third and final round. The top four teams and top two individuals not part of those teams will advance to nationals May 19-23 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
