WINGATE, N.C. – Central Oklahoma moved up one spot in this week's NCBWA Top 25, announced Wednesday, with the Bronchos now ranked No. 18 in the country.
Central Oklahoma is 30-9 on the season and 16-8 in the MIAA. The Bronchos went 2-2 last week, winning its midweek non-conference matchup with Southern Nazarene before going on the road to beat No. 9 Missouri Southern and hand them just their second home loss of the year. MSSU, which moved up to No. 8 this week, took the series 2-1.
UCO is home this weekend. After beating Northeastern State Tuesday to sweep the season series against the Riverhawks, three games to none, UCO turns its attention to a three-game league series with Rogers State beginning Friday night. Central will host RSU Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wendell Simmons Field.
There are only three weeks left in the 2024 regular season. The Bronchos host Rogers State, travel to Washburn, and host Northwest Missouri State, for three-game MIAA series each of the final three weekends. UCO also has one midweek non-conference game left – at Arkansas Tech – next Tuesday.
The 2024 MIAA Baseball Championship begins May 3-5 with the top four teams in the final standings hosting a best-of-three series on campus. UCO is currently third in the MIAA. The four advancing teams will play a double elimination tournament to decide the league champion in Pittsburg, Kansas May 9-11.
