Central Oklahoma Guard Earns Honor For Second Consecutive Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jaden Wells was named First Team All-MIAA Tuesday with Danquez Dawsey also earning All-MIAA Honorable Mention as the league announced its annual postseason awards.

Wells led the MIAA in scoring this season, averaging 21.4 points per game, as the fourth-year junior from Hurst, Texas climbed up to the No. 3 spot on Central Oklahoma's all-time scoring list with 1,857 points (2020-24).

Wells also led the league in field goals made (197) and attempted (477), 3-pointers made (80) and attempted (228), and free-throws made (169) and attempted (185), as well as free-throw percentage (91.4). Additionally, Wells led the MIAA in steals (63) and steals per game (2.1).

Dawsey also led the MIAA this season with the true junior point guard dishing out a league-high 152 assists this season. That mark ranks 11th among all Division II players. Dawsey ranks sixth in assist-turnover ratio (1.81) and third in assists per game (5.1) among the MIAA.

Dawsey posted 13.8 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game this season. The Lawton, Oklahoma native shot 43.7 percent from the floor overall, 40.2 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 82.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Wells has now earned First Team All-MIAA in consecutive seasons. This marks the first postseason honor for Dawsey.

Central Oklahoma posted a 20-10 record this season but the Bronchos aren't done yet. UCO qualified for the 2024 MIAA Basketball Championship later this week in Kansas City, Missouri.
