Bronchos Picked Ninth In MIAA Preseason Polls

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced Tuesday its preseason polls ahead of the 2023-24 season live from Basketball Media Day. Central Oklahoma was picked ninth in both the coaches' and media poll.

UCO went 11-17 last season and 7-15 in league play. The Bronchos finished ninth in the final standings. UCO went to the MIAA Basketball Championship in Kansas City and won its first round game before the season ended in the quarterfinals.

Central Oklahoma begins the 2023-24 season in November. The Bronchos will visit Tahlequah, Oklahoma for the Central Region Challenge Nov. 10-11.

After two more in-state road games, UCO will make its home debut for two non-conference games before Thanksgiving. The Bronchos host Texas A&M International and Oklahoma Christian in the UCO Classic at Hamilton Field House Nov. 21-22.

Central Oklahoma returns seven letter winners from the 2022-23 squad. The Bronchos also return four starters from that group.

Fifth-year senior Aliyah Llanusa leads the group. Utilizing her eligibility extension from the pandemic, Llanusa has played in 107 games for the Bronchos over the past four seasons.

Aspen Williston is also returning and utilizing a fifth year. The forward was a key contributor last season in her debut with the Bronchos.

Karly Wadsworth returns too and she led the Bronchos in scoring a year ago, averaging 12.3 points per game. Wadsworth has played in 77 career games for the Bronchos and has made 104 career 3-pointers.

Tayler Factor, Caley Young, Lexi Foreman and Megan McClendon also return for the Bronchos. Central Oklahoma also added seven transfers and three freshmen to their squad for this season.
