EDMOND (Sept. 15) –
Zuela Adom and Kristen Wilson combined for 27 kills as Central Oklahoma captured a four-set triumph over Oklahoma City University Tuesday night at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos ended a five-match losing streak with the 26-24, 25-18, 17-25, 25-18 victory and improved to 6-7 on the year heading into Thursday's Lone Star Conference opener at Southeastern Oklahoma.

Adom hit a sizzling .407 with 14 kills and just three errors in 27 attacks while adding five blocks, with Wilson contributing 13 kills and 15 digs.

UCO also got a strong performance at the net from Courtney Whitlow, who had five kills and five blocks.  Ginger Gowen (19 digs) and Sarah Niles (13 digs) led the defense.

“It was a solid effort and I think we're continuing to make positive strides,” UCO coach Jeff Boyland said.   “We still need to do a better job passing, but overall I was pleased and it was a good win.”

There were 13 ties and five lead changes in a back-and-forth first set that saw OCU grab a late 23-22 lead, but a service error tied the match and the Bronchos went up 24-23 on a Wilson kill.

The Stars tied it at 24-all before another Wilson kill and an OCU attack error gave UCO the win.

The Bronchos had little trouble in taking the second set before OCU won the third and then Alex Richardson had three early kills as UCO led all the way in the fourth set to close out the match.
