WICHITA, Kan. (Sept. 3) -- Freshman Katy Kashwer scored in the 95th minute to lift No. 9-ranked Central Oklahoma to a tough 1-0 triumph over upset-minded Newman University here Wednesday night.

The unbeaten Bronchos (3-0) couldn't take advantage of numerous scoring chances in regulation, but pulled out the overtime win when Kashwer took a feed from Whitney Craft and knocked a low shot into the left corner of the goal for the game-winner 4:25 into the extra session.

"We played a horrendous first half, but really picked it up and played with much more intensity in the second half and overtime," UCO coach Mike Cook said.  "It wasn't real pretty, but it was a good learning experience for us and we picked up a good win on the road."

The Bronchos once again dominated defensively, allowing the Jets only four shots while posting their second shutout in three games.  Redshirt freshman Josie Baker went the distance in goal, picking up two saves.

UCO took 15 shots in the contest, including 13 in the final period and overtime.  The Bronchos had two shots bounce off the posts and misfired on a breakaway before Kashwer finally ended the deadlock.

UCO returns to action Friday when it hosts its own classic at Tom Thompson Field.  Southwestern Oklahoma plays Central Missouri at 2 p.m. before the Bronchos take on Truman State at 4 p.m.
