Mark Winters coached the Bronchos from 1962-78, compiling a 239-185 record that was the best in school history at the time and which now ranks second among UCO men’s basketball coaches.

Winters took over a program that was 12-14 the season before he arrived and led UCO to back-to-back 20-win campaigns, with the Bronchos going 24-4 and advancing to the quarterfinals of NAIA National Tournament in his second season in 1963-64.

Mark led UCO to 11 winning seasons, including four 20-win outings, during his career. He directed the Bronchos to three conference titles and four runner-up finishes in addition to making eight NAIA District 9 playoff appearances.

Winters coached 23 All-Conference players and eight All-Americans during his tenure, including all-time leading scorer and rebounder Wesley Clark, also a UCO Hall of Fame member.
