Dale Hamilton spent 44 years at Central Oklahoma, enjoying success as both athlete, coach and athletic director. Hamilton lettered four straight years in football, basketball and track, earning All-Conference honors in football and winning conference track titles in the 220 and 440 yard dashes.
A 1933 graduate of UCO, Hamilton coached football, basketball, track and golf during his lengthy career with the Bronchos. Hamilton never had a losing season in 12 years atop the football program, winning or sharing seven Oklahoma Collegiate Conference titles wile piling up a 73-25-3 record, and UCO went 57-30 in the four years Hamilton guided the basketball team.
Hamilton also coached five conference championship golf teams, with two of those squads finishing as NAIA national runners-up, and he had three conference title-winning track teams.
Hamilton also served as athletic director from 1941-76. A member of the NAIA and Oklahoma coaching Association hall of fame, Hamilton was named a Distinguished Former Student in 1977 and Bronchos Award winner in 1990.
