Speegle was a football, basketball, and track star for the Bronchos from 1938-40 and was named a Distinguished Former Student in 1989. He graduated UCO in 1940 and went on to enjoy a 36-year coaching career, all but one year of that spent at Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City where he coached football, basketball and golf.
C.B. was a two-way end on the UCO football team, helping the Bronchos win back-to-back Oklahoma Collegiate Conference championships. He was a first- team All-Conference pick in 1939.
Speegle was also a three-year starter at forward on UCO basketball teams that were a combined 43-23, earning All-Conference acclaim in 1938-39, and was a sprinter on the track team.
