Bronchos Tied For Fourth In San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Feb. 20) – Alberto Ruiz-Nava shot a one-over-par 73 to pace Central Oklahoma in opening-round play at the St. Mary's Invitational here Monday as the Bronchos opened the spring portion of their 2016-17 schedule.
 
Teams were scheduled to play 36 holes at The Dominion Country Club, but early-morning rain forced the cancellation of the first round and will reduce the tournament to a 36-hole event.  UCO shot a 297 and is tied for fourth with Dallas Baptist in the team standings.
 
Henderson State leads the 16-team event at 290, followed by Northeastern State (292), Southwestern Oklahoma (294).  Final-round play is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
 
Ruiz-Nava had four birdies in his round of 73 and is tied for 11th in the individual standings.  The Bronchos also got a 74 from Nick Pierce, while Eli Armstrong and Wesley Jackson both shot 75 and Alexander Hughes 76.
