EDMOND – Central Oklahoma head rowing coach Montia Rice announced the signing of four outstanding rowers to the Broncho program last week, making it the largest fall signing for UCO rowing to date.

Cameron Blunk, Lucy Kline, Sierra Munoz, and Siobhan Quirke have signed National Letters of Intent to join UCO rowing in the fall of 2017.

"We are excited to welcome a very talented group of athletes in our 2017 signing class," said Rice.  "Every one of these young women have proven to be exceptional athletes. We are looking forward to working with them and expect them to make significant contributions to the team both on the water and in the classroom."

Blunk is a native of Bettendorf, Iowa where she is a part of the Y Quad-Cities Rowing Association.  She has contributed to the program for the last four years and has become a proficient sweeper and sculler, where she is currently coached by Peter Sharis at Y Quad-Cities.

Blunk attributes rowing for making her realize her drive and competitive nature. She enjoys setting goals for herself and pushing herself to the limit. In attending UCO, she plans to pursue a degree in graphic design, aspiring one day to become a graphic designer. Her favorite pastimes are drawing and painting.

Kline will make the short trek from Jones, Okla. to join the Bronchos.  Kline rowed for OKC Riversport for 6 years and is currently coached by Brian Ebke.  The varsity women of the program have experienced much success within the past few years with back to back appearances at Youth Nationals. Kline says one of her favorite memories from rowing is competing at nationals her sophomore year.

Kline comes to UCO wanting to major in nursing, and eventually wants to become an ER nurse. She also enjoys photography in her free time.

Munoz comes from Tulsa, Okla. with an impressive background in women's basketball and track and field.  At Metro Christian Academy, Munoz is a four-year letterman on the basketball team and track and field as well as shot put and discus record holder.

As an out of sport athlete, Munoz has a strong competitive drive and natural athleticism to provide the Bronchos next season. She comes to UCO to earn a degree in kinesiology and ideally wants to work as an athletic trainer. She enjoys reading and watching TV with her dog, Honey in her spare time.

Siobhan Quirke, from Long Beach, Calif. joins UCO with three years of rowing experience from the Long Beach Junior Crew.  Quirke is coached by Alfredo Montenegro and says her favorite memory while rowing was traveling to Boston to compete at Head of the Charles.

Quirke attends Los Alamitos High School where she has been involved in filmmaking.   After graduating from UCO Siobahn would like to work in documentary filmmaking.  In her free time Quirke enjoys riding dirtbikes.

The Bronchos have become a national power in rowing, with last year's team finishing runner-up. UCO had a strong fall season this year, and is off now for the winter break. The Bronchos return to the water on Sunday, March 5 at the Heart of Texas Regatta.
