No. 18 Bronchos Take On No. 6 Jennies Friday

UCO READY FOR LEAGUE PLAY:  No. 18-ranked Central Oklahoma opens Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play this weekend with a pair of home matches at Hamilton Field House.
 
The Bronchos, 11-1 on the season, take on No. 6 Central Missouri (12-1) in a big showdown at 6:30 p.m. Friday before playing Lindenwood (7-2) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
 
The Jennies were the pre-season pick to win the conference title, while UCO was tabbed fourth and the Lions 12th.
 
The Bronchos go on the road for five straight league matches after this weekend, not returning home until hosting Southern Nazarene on Oct. 13.
 
UCO VS. THE OPPONENTS:  Central Missouri has a 10-1 series lead over the Bronchos, with UCO earning its first-ever win last year with a five-set home victory.
 
The Bronchos own a 4-1 advantage over Lindenwood, including a pair of three-set wins last year.
 
THE BRONCHOS AT HOME:  UCO enters the weekend with an eight-match home winning streak.
 
The Bronchos have an all-time record of 234-88 (72.7 winning percentage) since beginning play in Hamilton Field House in 1987.  UCO went 11-3 at home last year.
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS:  UCO is riding a five-match winning streak since suffering its lone loss, a four-set road setback to No. 9 Florida Southern.
 
The Bronchos have won eight three-set sweeps already this season and are 3-1 in four-set matches.
 
UCO is hitting a league-leading .305 as a team and have the two top individuals in junior Allison Barr (.440) and freshman Jordan Spence (.380).
 
Senior Barbara Jackson leads the team in kills with 133, ranking third in the MIAA with 3.69 a set.  She's added 74 digs, 17 blocks and nine service aces.
 
Freshman Taylor Bevis has 123 kills and a .332 attack percentage to go with 25 blocks and 61 digs.
 
Barr has 93 kills and just 16 errors in 175 attacks, while Spence has 83 kills with 18 errors in 171 attempts.  Spence is also third in the league in blocks with 46 (1.10/set).
 
Junior Katy Davis tops the conference in assists with 11.20 a set, having accumulated 448 in 12 matches.  Senior Whitney Gifford has 209 digs and tops the MIAA with 5.22 a set.
 
ABOUT THE JENNIES:  UCM is second to the Bronchos in team hitting percentage at .280 while also leading the league in kills per set (14.78) and assists per set (13.31).
 
The Jennies have won six straight matches since suffering their lone loss, a five-set defeat to No. 4 Tampa.
 
Carly Sojka paces UCM with 196 kills, averaging a conference-high 4.36 a set.  She also has 112 digs, 19 aces and 18 blocks.
 
Maddie Jones has added 124 kills with a .365 attack percentage and Kylie Hohlen has 97 kills.
 
ABOUT THE LIONS:  Lindenwood plays at Pittsburg State Friday night before taking on the Bronchos.
 
The Lions are led by Bailey Dvorak (87 kills), Shannon Doyle (81 kills) and Kayla Guyot (78 kills, 23 blocks).
