STARKVILLE, Miss. (June 4) -- Veteran Central Oklahoma coach Genny Stidham has been named NCAA Division II South Central Region Coach of the Year, it was announced Monday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Stidham guided the Bronchos to a school-record 46 wins this season while playing as an independent , with UCO finishing 46-9 and ranked No. 2 in the final national poll after making it to the semifinals of the national tournament.

The Bronchos reeled off a 35-game winning streak -- 20 games longer than the previous school record and among the longest in Division II history -- en route to winning the South Central Regional title and advancing to the World Series.  UCO won its first two games in making the national semifinals before losing twice to defending national champion UC San Diego.
